NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE
This form must be lodged with your Authorised Marriage Celebrant no less than one month and one day, and no more than eighteen months prior to the marriage. I supply this form and it can be completed with my assistance and witnessed by me.
At the time of lodgment of this form, you must both produce your original Birth Certificates. Persons born in Australia MUST produce their birth certificate. If you do not have your full birth certificate, you can order one on-line from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in your State, or attend at their offices.
If you were born outside Australia you are required to produce your birth certificate. However, in the absence of that document, you must produce your current Passport and/or citizenship papers.
All documents in languages other than English, require a certified translation.
If you are divorced you must produce a Decree Absolute. You can complete the Notice of Intended Marriage after the court hearing, and during the one-month period prior to the decree becoming "absolute".
If widowed, the original Death Certificate or extract of death, and previous marriage certificate must be produced.
FORM 14 DECLARATION
Prior to the wedding both partners will be required to sign a Form 14 Declaration under the Marriage Act 1961, stating that it is their belief there is no legal impediment to the marriage between themselves and their partner. This declaration is usually completed at the rehearsal and is witnessed by the Authorised Marriage Celebrant.
In accordance with the Marriage Act 1961, two persons under the age of eighteen cannot marry. If one party is under the age of eighteen they must obtain parental consent and approval of a court of law before the Notice of Intended Marriage can be lodged. See your local Magistrates' Court for more information.
To confirm your booking, a lodgement fee of $100 is required when you lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage with your Celebrant. The balance of the fee is due at least two weeks prior to the wedding day (for cheques), or at the rehearsal.
